Civil Works Contracting’s Federal Division recently completed the design-build of a 500,000-gallon composite elevated water storage tank in Harleyville, South Carolina, for the Lake Marion Regional Water Agency. Located within the Winding Woods Industrial Park—east of Winding Woods Road and adjacent to an existing powerline easement—the project was a critical component of Dorchester County’s long-term infrastructure and economic development strategy.

Standing 182 feet tall and supported by H-piles with a steel-reinforced concrete pedestal foundation, the new tank provides reliable water service to the Winding Woods Commerce Park, a $100 million industrial site expected to generate over 450 jobs. It also supports key facilities including Woodland High School, the Dorchester County Courthouse, and the greater St. George area.

Civil Works delivered a full turn-key civil package including clearing and grubbing, demolition, grading, erosion and sedimentation control, yard piping, foundation and tank construction, fencing, valves, electrical installation, tank painting and lettering, landscaping, seeding, and final surface restoration.

The successful completion of this project enhances regional water storage, improves system pressure and fire protection, and lays the foundation for continued industrial growth and community resilience in Dorchester County.
