CWC completed a multi-discipline ship to rail transload operation in Wilmington, NC for Gold Bond Building Products. This project will allow Gold Bond Building Products to utilize the infrastructure to unload gypsum from ships in the Cape Fear River and transload the material into rail cars for distribution and use at their other wall board facilities. CWC was contracted to perform 9 AC of clearing & grubbing, 17,000 CY of excavation/embankment, construct 442 LF of concrete retaining walls that included 118 EA pile driven supports, installation of RCP storm drain, installation of infiltration basins, construction of retention basins, installation of site utilities to include water/sewer/fire lines, stone access roads, subballast installation on rail yard, asphalt paving, construction of a rail car repair building, construction of a welfare building, construction of a rail yard complete with CWR rail and steel ties, construction of 15 EA steel tie turnouts, installation of a compressed air system for the rail yard, and installation of an overhead lighting system.
